Today I am sending a letter to each church family concerning our budget giving year-to-date.  I would like for everyone to read the letter and give it prayerful consideration (click here to read letter).

Prayer for Austin Tucker...

You may have heard of Hand, Foot and Mouth virus that is common among small children.  Corbin had it reacently and Austin contracted it from Corbin.  It is fairly uncommon among adults but Austin has an extremely bad case.  He has the sores in the common places as the name indicates.  In addition, he has the sores in his throat and on his head.  His throat is so bad he cannot swallow.  He has been extremely ill and miserable.  Please keep him in your prayers.

Thanks,

Bro. Bob

Thanksgiving Service

Tonight is our annual Thanksgiving dinner and service.  I really look forward to this special time each year.  I enjoy hearing testimonies from others about the things for which they are thankful.  If anyone should have a grateful heart, Christians should.  We have the joy of knowing our Heavenly Father is watching over us.

Just Thinking

I woke up early this morning and started working on the message for Sunday.  I have not preached in 2 weeks so I am really eager to preach this Sunday.  The sermon title is "God's Solutions to Drama".  We all have a lot of drama in our life.

So what is God's solution to the drama (strife and friction with others)?  Be thinking about that as we approach Sunday.  Bring your drama with you to church but don't plan on taking it home.

See you Sunday.

Thinking about Bro. Henry Austin

Don't take this wrong but as a pastor, some funerals are actually a joy to conduct.  As you probably know, Mr. Austin joined our Lord in heaven  this morning.  I have met with the family and now at 7:30 PM I am about to begin preparing the funeral message.  I don't know where to begin.  Mr. Austin was such a fine man and there are so many good things I can say about his life. He touched many people with his kindness and generosity.

I remember Mr. Austin most for his wisdom.  As the pastor, I often seek opinions and advice on matters of importance.  Mr. Austin was someone I could count on for a level headed, spiritualy considered opinion when requested.  And his advice had to be solicited as he was not one to complain or interfere.  I jokingly called him E.F. Hutton because when he spoke in deacon's meetings, everyone got quiet and listened.

His daughters were blessed with many wonderful years as he was 88.  However, they need our prayers as they deal with this great loss.

Visitation will be  held at Pine Rest Funeral Home on Saturday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and the service will immediately follow.

I hope you can attend the service as we remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Henry Austin.

Bro. Bob
